MISS GUNDERSON DIED

Miss Carrie Gunderson, 86, died at the old people's home at Story City about midnight Saturday of complications due to old age.

Miss Gunderson was the first patient in the Story City hospital when it opened in 1914 and when she was released, she entered the old people's home where she has since resided.

Carrie Gunderson was born in Norway March 5, 1847, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gunder Kjerland.

She immigrated to America in 1872, coming to Roland, where she made her home for many years. She was a member of Bergen Lutheran church. In 1914, Miss Gunderson applied for admittance to the Home for Aged in Story City. Due to a stroke of paralysis suffered about that time, she first became a patient in the Story City hospital. When she was able to leave the hospital she was admitted to the Home where she has since been cared for. More than six years ago she suffered a fall and broke her hip, and ever since she has been confined to her bed.

Funeral services was [as written] conducted at the Home yesterday, with Rev. M. O. Sumstad in charge, assisted by Rev. Edward Duea of Dows, and Mr. A. C. Molstre, superintendent of the Home. She was laid to rest in Fairview cemetery at Story City.
