Burdella Irene Shafland

The people of this community were shocked last Sunday morning to learn that Burdella Irene, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. Shafland, had passed away that morning. The little girl had been sick with the whooping cough, but had not been seriously sick and no fatal results were expected. She died during a coughing spell at which time she also had an attack of croup.

Burdella Irene was born June 2, 1905, and died November 12, 1911, being six years, 5 months and 10 days when she was called to the Heavenly Home. As the state board of health has made a ruling that no public funeral shall be held for those who die from some infectious disease, a short funeral service was held from the family residence at 10:30 o'clock on Monday morning, Rev. J. N. Sandven officiating in the absence of Rev. Smedal. The little body was then taken to the Roland cemetery to await the coming of the judgment day, when she will join that host of angels, where no sickness or sorrow enters. The bereaved family are extended the sincere sympathy of their numerous friends in their sorrow.
