Aged Resident Passes Away at His Home in Roland, Where He Has Lived for the Past Twenty-eight Years - Was Quiet and Unassuming Citizen

Baar L. Enge was born in Wee, Etne, Norway, Europe, on January 29, 1835 and died at his home in Roland on Monday, May 16, 1910, reaching the advanced age of 75 years, 3 months and 15 days. On September 29, 1870 he was married to Mrs. Enge who now survives, and to which five children were born, two of whom died while young children. The others who with their mother are now mourning his death are, Lars B. Enge, who lives at the parental home, Mrs. Severt Sjurson, living a few miles northwest of town,; Sam B. Enge, who is a yeoman in the U. S. navy, and who came home to attend the funeral.

In 1882, Mr. and Mrs. Enge and their children came to this country and settled in Roland, where they have since resided. Mr. Enge has for nearly twenty years been sick with asthma and this disease finally contributed to his demise, the direct cause of his death being heart failure.

The funeral was held from Bergen church on Saturday afternoon, the church being filled with the many friends of the family, who wished to show their last respects to a respected citizen. Rev. G. Smedal preached the funeral sermon, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Roland cemetery. These present from a distance at the funeral were Messrs and Mesdames Hactor and Lars Hill of Story City, Mrs. M. Olson and Mr. Lars Wee, of Slater; Mr. Tom Pederson and family, of Randall; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Olson, of Marshalltown, and Mr. John Ostrem, of Radcliffe.

The deceased was a quiet and unassuming man, and was highly respected by all who knew him, and his many friends and neighbors will miss him as will surely his sorrowing family. The Record extends its sympathy to the bereaved ones in the hour of their sorrow.
