The Nevada Representative, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, October 13, 1880.
Died.
Wm Day departed this life at his residence, two miles northeast of Nevada, October 10th.
He was born in Lincolnshire, England, Dec. 29, 1803. He was baptized in the Episcopal Church, and was brought up strictly to regard its doctrines, but never made a formal profession of religion. He was married in England in 1842, and in 1848, with his wife and three children, came to America, where the remaining nine children of his family were born. He first lived in Rochester, New York, two years. From there he moved to Marietta, Ohio, where he lived fourteen years then to Albany, Illinois, from which place, after three years, he came to Nevada, Iowa, where he has since resided. His general occupation was farming. He was a kind, fond husband and father and dearly loved his family. He was industrious, and endeavored to live an honest conscientious life. He felt, however, as death drew near, that more thorough preparation was necessary, and kneeling by his beside, repeated the Lord's Prayer and added, "Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy." At the last he confessed his willingness to die. On Monday last, at 3 p. m., after brief services at the Methodist Church, his remains were laid away in their last resting place to await the resurrection, to which the sorrowing friends look forward with expectations of a joyous reunion.
