Dorothy Ann (Dottie) Dobbe Wallize, age 80, passed away on 8 April 2010, at the Riverside Nursing Home in Ames, Iowa.
Family visitation was Saturday 10 April 2010 at the Memorial Lutheran Church at 12:15, followed by a Celebration of Life service, a light lunch, and interment at Palestine Lutheran Church cemetery in Huxley, Iowa. Funeral services were conducted by Pastor David Beagley from Memorial Lutheran Church, and arrangements by Stevens Memorial Chapel of Ames.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents: Sanford and Pearl (Wagley) Dobbe and brothers: Marion, Gene and Glen. Step-daughter Inga Wallize and step-son in law, Gary Ullrich.
Dorothy Ann was on May 21, 1929 in Sioux County, Iowa and moved to Huxley, Iowa as a young girl. She lived most of her lifetime in Huxley and Ames. She was employed as a private secretary to Clair E. Wilson of Clair Wilson Realty for many years, Iowa State University, and other companies in Ames.
Dorothy Ann loved her friends and family very much. She was beautiful both inside and out and made many friends with her sparkling personality and fun-loving manner. She made many wonderful and fun memories with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband John Wallize of Wachahatchee, Texas; two daughters Sonja (Alan) of Northfield, MN. and Cynthia Roberts of Ames; two step-daughters, Lee Ann (Jude) Smith of Oakleaf, Texas and Pam Wallize of Minneapolis, MN; grandsons, Tim (Lori) Freeland of Northfield, MN and Andy (Sara) Freeland of Eden Prairie, MN; step grandchildren, Jeffrey Ullrich of Iowa City, Ia. and Susan Ullrich of,Texas. Dottie had five great grandchildren: Rylie Anne, Kayla, Jake, Gus, and Kermit all of Minnesota. She is survived by a sister, Lorraine (LaVerne) Richardson of Granada Hills CA as well as several nieces and nephews.
