Young Lady is Summoned

Daughter of Well Known Family of Roland Passes Away at Parental Home After Several Years Illness with Consumption

Edith Alida Olson passed quietly away on Friday evening, August 4, 1911, at eleven o'clock, after several years of suffering with the dreaded disease consumption, and she went to the rest that she had longed for. Her death had been expected for some time, but it was still a shock to her parents, sisters, brother and friends, when death finally came.

Alida was born in Roland on November 21, 1890, and was 20 years, 8 months, and 13 days when her summons came to enter the Heavenly Home. At the age of fifteen she was confirmed at Bergen church by her pastor, Rev. Smedal, who also conducted the funeral services. She attended the Roland schools and since that time has been staying at the parental home, being a girl content with staying quietly at home. She leaves her parents Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Olson, seven sisters, Mrs. H. T. Hegland, Mary, Bella, Judith, Ruth, Odella, and Swanhild and one brother, Martin, besides numerous other relatives and friends to mourn her untimely death.

The funeral was held on Sunday afternoon from Bergen church, which was filled to overflowing with friends who wished to cast a last fond look upon the face of a friend. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The pall bearers were her friends Misses Clara Iverson, Amy Gaard, Clara Grove, Sara Johnson, Sylvia Michaelson and Gladys Bell. Interment took place in the Roland cemetery. The Record extends the sincere sympathy of the entire community to the sorrowing family.
