An Old Settler Passes Away

Sjur N. Rame was born in Etne, Norway, January 26, 1840 and died at his home in Roland, Monday, Jun 10, 1907, thus being 67 years, 4 months, and 14 days old, when called to the final rest. The deceased was married in Norway to which union several children were born, but his wife died and after her death he came to this county. This was about 37 years ago. After he came here he was married again and to this union several more children were born. Only his wife, daughter Belle and son Henry are left of his immediate family to mourn his death. He also leaves a brother, Henry Nelson, who lives northwest of town, and two sisters in Norway.

They lived on the farm which they owned three miles southeast of town, until three years ago, when they moved to Roland.

He had been sickly the past year, but the last few months he has been confined to his bed, and passed quietly away surrounded by his family.

The funeral was held Wednesday, from Bergen church, Rev. G. Smedal performing the ceremony, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Roland cemetery.

The bereaved ones have the sincere sympathy of their many friends.
