Bertha Jacobson
Miss Bertha Jacobson was born on a farm in Milford Township, September 22, 1878 and died at the home of her parents one mile west of town on Thursday, January 14, 1909, being 30 years, 3 months and 22 days old at the time of her untimely death. She was baptized and confirmed at Bergen church by Rev. C. B. Jacboson, and has since been an active member of the same church. She has since childhood been sickly, but this did not hinder her from attending to her work in the church and in assisting the sick and suffering with whom she could heartily sympathize. For the past few years she has been a patient sufferer from that dreaded disease, consumption, and being fully prepared for death. It came to her as sleep to a tired child. She will be missed by many because of her quiet and lovable nature.
She was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ole J. Jacobson, who now with their only son, Carl, mourn her death. Besides these, she leaves numerous friends and relatives, who will cherish her memory as a dear friend.
The funeral occurred on Saturday afternoon from Bergen church, her pastor, Rev. G. Smedal officiating. The church was filled with loving friends who wished to pay a last tribute to the departed. After the funeral ceremony, the remains were interred in the Roland cemetery.
The Record extends to the bereaved ones its most sincere sympathy in the hour of their sorrow.
