Don B. Boda, 90, of Slater, died Thursday, April 1, at Story County Long Term Care Center.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 6, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with Pastor Heidi Williams officiating. Burial was in the Sheldahl Cemetery.
Don was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Sheldahl to John and Ruby (Berggren) Boda. He married Ellen Lund on Feb. 15, 1947, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater. He worked as a farmer, and served on the Iowa School Board and North Polk School Board. He was a member of the Slater Methodist Men, the Alleman Co-op and the Polka Dots of Iowa. He was an avid woodsmith and golfer, loved ballroom dancing, his family, horses and trail riding; and he assisted in building the Slater United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Boda, who lives at Long Term Care in Nevada; two daughters, Mary Tomlinson (Boyd Antill) of Huxley and Monica (Bill) Volz of Suffolk, VA; four grandchildren, Ryan Tomlinson, John Tomlinson, Eric Volz and Tracy (Dan) Wallach; and one great-grandchild, Nina Wallach.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Iva Horn.
A memorial fund has been established in his name. Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home, Slater, handled arrangements.
