DIED AT HOME OF DAUGHTER
FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. ANNA CHRISTIANSEN HELD YESTERDAY
Mrs. Anna G. Christiansen died Friday evening at 8:30 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Eli Johnson, after an illness of several months. Heart failure and high blood pressure, from which she had been suffering from some time, were the cause of her death.
Anna Gurina Svednsbøen was born September 7, 1855 at Vikebygd, Norway, and died at Roland April 21, 1933 at the age of 77 years, 7 months and 14 days.
She was the daughter of Ole and Gurina Olsen Svendsbøen. At the age of 26 years, she was united in marriage to Manase Annaniason. To this union five children were born, two of whom passed away in infancy. Her husband passed away in 1892.
She and her three daughters immigrated to America in 1895, in which year she was married to Aslak Christiansen. To this union two children were born. Her husband passed away in 1901.
After living in Harden county for a number of years, she moved to her farm two miles north of McCallsburg. Here, a daughter, Amanda, passed away in 1904. In 1919, she moved to McCallsburg, where another daughter, Otelia, died in 1921. Here she lived until February 15, 1933, at which time she was brought to the home of her daughter.
She is survived by three children, Mrs. Eli Johnson, of Roland, Severin Christiansen of Hubbard, and Mrs. Carl Handeland, of McCallsburg. There are 16 grandchildren. She also leaves a sister, Mrs. Martha Sunde of Thompson, Iowa, and two brothers, Mons and Lars of Norway, Europe.
The funeral was held at the home of her daughter and in Bethany Lutheran church at McCallsburg, of which the deceased was a member. He pastor, Rev. H. N. Bakke, officiated. Rev. M. O. Sumstad of Roland, also spoke a few words. Interment was made in the McCallsburg cemetery. The pall bearers were, J. S. Thompson, T. O. Hegland, Charles Christian, P. P. Pederson, C. H. Risdal and M. O. Ferkin. Misses Johanna and Lenora Osheim sang both at the home and at the church and were accompanied by Miss Charlotte Cole. The Bethany Ladies Aid quartet composed of Mrs. O. E. Ritland, Mrs. Birger Imsland, Mrs. O. V. Olson and Mrs. J. I. Gjerde also sang at the church.
