Don Boda, 90, of Slater, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Story Medical Senior Care in Nevada. Arrangements are pending with the Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home.

Don B. Boda, 90, of Slater, died Thursday, April 1, 2010, at Story County Long Term Care Center in Nevada. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with Pastor Heidi Williams officiating. Burial will be in Sheldahl Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 5, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Don B. Boda was born Feb. 17, 1920, in Sheldahl, to John and Ruby (Berggren) Boda. He was a farmer. Don married Ellen Lund Feb. 15, 1947, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater. He was on the Iowa School Board, North Polk School Board, member of Slater Methodist Men, the Alleman Co-op and Polka Dots of Iowa. He was an avid woodsmith and golfer; loved ballroom dancing, his family, horses and trail riding; and assisted in building the Slater United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Boda, at the Long Term Care Center in Nevada; daughters, Mary Tomlinson (Boyd Antill), of Huxley, and Monica (Bill) Volz, of Suffolk, Va.; grandchildren, Ryan Tomlinson, John Tomlinson, Eric Volz and Tracy (Dan) Wallach; and great-grandchild, Nina Wallach.

His parents and sister, Iva Horn, preceded him in death.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home is assisting the family.
