The following was taken from the 10 Aug 1925 Ames Tribune on microfiche in the Ames Public Library. The bottom of the article was extremely blurred and unreadable.

OBITUARY

George Newton Foote was born near Joliet, Ill., Feb. 5, 1854, and died at his home, 1012 Wilson avenue, Aug. 8, 1925, at the age of 71 years, 6 months, and 2 days.

He had been in very poor health for several months, and for the past winter and summer, an invalid. Until his illness he was always active in the affairs of the community, always looking on the bright side of life, and having a pleasant, jolly word for everyone.

He married in his youth, this wife preceding him in death, passing away in 1914. He married again, Aug. 8, 1917 to Elizabeth Dolph of Collins, Ia.

Early in life he joined the M.E. Church and transfered membership here.

Funeral services were held at Adams' funeral home Monday at 2:30, conducted by Rev. H. A. Browning.

Relatives from out of town that attended the funeral yesterday were Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Wax and sons of Maxwell; Mrs. Romayne Halsted, Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bloomberg and family of Zearing; E. W. Martin and family of Colo; A. L. Dolph and family, Rockwell City; Mrs. W. L. Trumm, Grand River, Ia.; Mrs. Will Dolph, Collins; ....

The letter of thanks was signed by Mrs. G. N. Foote; his sister, Mrs. Ella Loucks of 907 Clark avenue. His brother-in-law William Childs of 911 Clark ave. was mentioned in the original death notice in the Ames Tribune of 9 Aug 1925.
