CHILD DIED YESTERDAY
Palmer, the seven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Iver Gjerde, died yesterday at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, where he had recently been operated on for a bone infection in his leg.
The boy became ill with the infection some over three months ago. He was taken to the Methodist hospital in Des Moines three weeks ago where he was operated on November 3. He was making progress toward recovery until Monday, when he was taken ill with pneumonia, which caused his death at 2:15 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. His folks had been notified and were with him when death came.
Palmer Gjerde was born at the Gjerde home northeast of Roland September 24, 1925 and died November 22, 1932, at the age of 7 years, one month and 28 days. He attended school last year, but was unable to start this fall on account of his illness.
He is survived by his parents, three sisters and two brothers, Ardis, Amy, Carroll, Irwin and Alice.
The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at the Gjerde home at 1:30 o'clock and at Salem church at 2:00 o'clock, with the Rev. Olaf Holen in charge. Interment will be in the Roland cemetery.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FRIDAY
Funeral services were held Friday for Palmer Gjerde, seven year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Iver Gjerde, at the home and at Salem church, Rev. Olaf Holen officiating. Interment was made in the Roland cemetery. Pall bearers were the school mates of the deceased, Virgil Twedt, Harold Wicks, Archie Jacobson and Frederick Waugh.
Those from a distance in attendance were, Mr. and Mrs. Margin Sevold and Walter of Radcliffe, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Sevold of Randall, Mr. and Mrs. T. Axelton of Ames, Mr. and Mrs. R. Gjerde and Mrs. W. W. Risser of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Gjerde and children of McCallsburg, Mrs. T. A. Ostrem and Gerhard Ostrem and Mrs. Henry Sevold of Story City, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Gjerde of Huxley.
CARD OF THANKS
We wish to express our thanks to all who assisted us and showed us their sympathy during the illness and death of little Palmer. We wish to thank Rev. Olaf Holen for his kind message, and those who sang so beautifully at the funeral, and to those who contributed flowers and a gift to the children's home in his memory.
