Ruth A. Matthies, 85, of Boone passed away Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone. Inurnment will follow in Linwood Park Cemetery.

Ruth was born Dec. 9, 1924, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Antone and Agnes (Johnson) Teed. She married Otto Matthies on March 22, 1947, in Kansas City, Mo. She worked as a secretary for Minnelusa Schools in Omaha, Neb. She enjoyed playing the church organ, sewing quilts and reading.

She is survived by one daughter, Theresa (Steven) Bodenstab, of Woodridge, Ill., one son, John (Kitty) Matthies, of Fair Oaks, Calif., one daughter, Karen (David) Wilson, of Boone; and one son, Richard (Cindy) Matthies, of Boone; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Otto A. Matthies in 2001; and two sisters, Elizabeth Sandquist and Lorena Roos.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or to the Autism Society.
