Mrs. Kari Hauge

Mrs. Kari Hauge, 88, who had been a resident of Iowa since 1866, died at the home of her nephew, Mr. and Mrs. O. O. Lein early Friday morning. She had been in her usual health and visited friends in Ames Wednesday. She became ill shortly after returning on Thursday night and died at 1:00 o'clock the next morning, being ill only a little over an hour.

Mrs. Hauge made her home with her two sons in Des Moines during the winters and spent the summers in her own home in Belmond.

She is survived by five sons and one daughter, A. O. Hauge, Martin Hauge and Edwin Hauge of Des Moines, Thor Hauge of Minneapolis, Lewis Hauge of Belmond, and Mrs. Anna Martinson, who has been at Calgary, Canada, for a time.

A short but impressive funeral service was held at Bergen church at 4:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev. M. O. Sumstad in charge assisted by Rev. H. E. Rasmussen of Des Moines. The church was filled with friends and relatives from Des Moines, Huxley, Slater, Cambridge and Roland.

On Monday at two o'clock a funeral service was held at St. Olaf Lutheran church at Belmond with Rev. Gulseth in charge assisted by Rev. H. O. Shurson of Minneapolis and Rev. Rasmussen of Des Moines. Special music was given by a mixed quartet, also songs by Mrs. L. S. Kloster and Rev. Rasmussen of Des Moines. The body was laid to rest by her husband in the St. Olaf cemetery at Belmond. Besided the floral offerings there was a sum of five dollars given to the Old Peoples Home at Story City by the Trinity Church Ladies Aid society of Belmond, and donations to the mission by relatives in her memory.
