THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
Angelina Bowen Diedrichs, 40, of Boone, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Boone County Hospital after a hard-fought battle with breast cancer. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 1015 N. Hyland Ave., in Ames.
Angelina Noelle Bowen was born Oct. 13, 1969, in Des Moines, to Diane (Carr) and John Bowen. She grew up in Maxwell, graduating as valedictorian from Collins-Maxwell High School in 1988. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Iowa State University in 1993, and taught special education in Bellevue, Neb., Boone and Ogden prior to starting a family. She married Joe Diedrichs April 6, 1996, in Ames.
She had many interests, including scrapbooking, everything Disney and reading, but her greatest joy was her children. She was a devoted and loving mother.
She will be missed by her husband, Joe; her daughters, Noelle and Ava; her mother and stepfather, Diane and Arnie Wonders; father and stepmother, John and Kim Bowen; mother-in-law, Reatha Diedrichs; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alethea and Jason Decklever, and Emily and Ryan Neely; brother-in-law, Max Diedrichs; niece, Athena Bowen; nephew, Austin Diedrichs; maternal grandfather, Eddie Carr Jr.; four aunts and four uncles; nine cousins; and many, many friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Griffin; her father-in-law, Bill Diedrichs; her maternal grandmother, Nadine Carr; and her paternal grandparents, Minnie and Byron Bowen.
Memorials may be directed to the family and will be given in Angelina’s memory to FORCE, a group dedicated to research designed to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by hereditary breast and ovarian cancer.
