THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, February 17, 2010.
Brandy Lynn Shearer, 30, of Boone and formerly of Ames, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City of acute myelogenous leukemia. A funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 19, at Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone with the Rev. Steve Brodersen officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Boone.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, at Church of the Sacred Heart in Boone, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a vigil service will be at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue from 8 until 10 a.m. Friday at Schroeder Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall in Boone.
Brandy was born April 9, 1979, in Ames, the daughter of Randy and Roxanne (Urban) Hirsch. She graduated from Corning High School in 1997 and from Iowa State University in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in arts and science with a major in journalism and mass communication. On June 2, 2001, she married Joseph Shearer at the Sacred Heart Church in Boone. She was employed with Van Wall Group as an Internet and marketing manager from 2001 to the present. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Boone. She enjoyed photography and vegetable and flower gardening, especially yellow and pink roses. She loved the time with her two sons and husband.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, and her two sons, Logan and Jonathan, of Boone; her parents, Randy and Roxanne Hirsch, of Paton; two brothers, Nathan Hirsch and wife, Darla, and Tyler Hirsch and wife, Ashley, all of Paton; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mike and Shannon (Fitzgerald) Shearer, of Boone; grandmother, Betty Schneider, of Paton; grandfather, Roger Hirsch and wife, Roberta, of Paton; one niece, Isabella Hirsch (to be born in April 2010); two sisters-in-law, Amy Shearer and Sara Sharp and husband, Eric, all of Boone; nephews, Wyatt and Wesley Sharp; grandmother-in-law, Lavonne Shearer, of Boone; and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Jim Schneider and Eugene Urban.
Memorials may be given to the “Brandy Shearer Memorial Fund” in care of Bank of the West, 715 Eighth St., Boone, IA, 50036.
