THE NEVADA JOURNAL, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, February 11, 2010.

Lenore Zita (Ritter) Pearey, 78 of Cambridge died on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Waterford of Ames. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Thursday, February 11 at the Palestine Lutheran Church in Huxley with Pastor David Burling officiating. Burial will follow in the Palestine Cemetery.

Lenore was born on February 27, 1931 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines to Eddie and Vivian (McConkey) Ritter. She was a 1949 graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School in Des Moines. In March of 1956, Lenore married Elwin L. Pearey in Princeton, MO. She loved collecting dolls and traveling. Her trips took her to Spain to watch the bull fights, Africa to ride camels, Hawaii, Ireland, Alaska, Russia, China, Korea and Vietnam.

Lenore is survived by her husband Elwin Pearey of Cambridge; 2 sons, Raymon Greenwood of Boone and Steven Pearey of Cambridge; 2 daughters, Linda Greenwood Robinson of Cambridge and Lynn Ann Pearey Hood of Des Moines; 6 grandchildren; a brother, Terry Ritter of Yale; 4 sisters, LaVonne Blount, Sandra LaGuria, Margo Ritter, all of Des Moines, and Beverly Rooker of Ankeny.

Lenore was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson Joseph, and a brother Richard Ritter.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Lenore’s name at the Make a Wish Foundation.

Chet Ryan Mortuary & Cremation Services, Nevada, was entrusted with the care of Lenore and her family.
