THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, January 28, 2010.

B. Joan Larson, 80, of Ames, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Ames, with the Rev. Joel Wight Hoogheem officiating.

B. Joan Larson was born Dec. 14, 1929, in Allerton, to John Orville and Marcia Marie (Morgan) Boysal. She earned a master’s degree from Drake University and was a fourth- and fifth-grade teacher in the Ballard schools. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church. She enjoyed reading, book club, playing bridge and flowers, and she especially enjoyed kids and teaching.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Walker, of Ames, and Sherri Larson, of Nevada; one son, Tim (Cindy) Larson, of Ames; one sister, Joyce (Harley) Donald; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one on the way; and a host of nieces, nephews and family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant son.

Memorials may be given to Bethesda Lutheran Church or St. Cecilia Catholic School.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting with arrangements.
