THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, December 16, 2009.

Ervin L. Hidlebaugh, 85, of Kelley, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Stevens Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Nevada Municipal Cemetery.

Ervin Hidlebaugh was born May 20, 1924, in Bayard, to Edgar and Emma (Kopaska) Hidlebaugh. He married Mabel “Ardell” Earwicker Aug. 1, 1948.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was employed at John Deere for 33 years. He loved stock car racing and golf, and was a charter member of Ballard Country Club.

He is survived by one son, Steve Hidlebaugh and his companion, Deanna Denker, of Kelley; two daughters, Vicki (Robert) Allen, of Aiken, S.C., and Valerie (Delmar) Anderson, of Polk City; one stepdaughter, Shirley Barber, of Ames; 10 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; one brother, Eldon; one stepdaughter, Sharon Keeney; and one stepson, Charles Raymond Keeney.
