Funeral services for Mrs. B.O. Grinde were held July 8, in Bethel Lutheran church, Story City.
A prayer service at Larson funeral home preceded the service. Rev. A.J. Bringle officiated.Mrs. Grinde before her death was the oldest living member of Bethel church. An amount of $100 was given in memorial gifts to various missions and benevolences of the church.
Miss Lillian Alsager sang, "Blessed Assurance," "Face to Face," and in Norwegian the hymn, "Tenk naar engang."
Pallbearers were Willie Wicks, Hans Houghland, George Nibe, John Severaid, Orville Olson and Isaac Hope.
Mrs. Grinde was buried beside her husband in Fairview cemetery in Story City, with all her children and all her grandchildren, except Robert Krough, who is stationed in Germany, present.
Friends and relatives attending the funeral were from Ames, Nevada, Huxley, Kelley, McCallsburg, Zearing, Randall, Fort Dodge and Minneapolis.
Mrs. B.O. Grinde was the daughter of the late Thorbjorn and Johanna Skiea of Olen, Norway, born May 23, 1862. She died July 4, 1955 at Story City Memorial hospital after a few days illness.
She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.
At the age of 25, she came to the United States. Here she was married in 1892 to Bertel O. Grinde, who preceded her in death 10 years ago. They had six children.
After marriage, they settled in Story City. Here they became members of the Bethel church and Mrs. Grinde was a charter member of the Bethel Ladies aid where she took an active part as long as her health permitted.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, three brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by two sons and four daughters. They are: Tom Grinde of Des Moines; Martin Grinde of Ackley; Hannah and Sylvia Grinde and Mrs. Hazel Krough of Story City and Mrs. Julia Lura of McCallsburg.
Also, six grandchildren; Robert Krough of the U.S. Army in Germany; Barbara Krough of Waterloo; Joan and Barbara Lura of McCallsburg; John Grinde and Elsie Kannegieter of Iowa Falls; and two great-grandchildren: Grant and Byron Grinde.
