THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, November 8, 2009.
Virginia Schoeneman 81, Ames, died Friday, Nov. 6, at Riverside Manor, Ames.
A visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Grandon Funeral and Cremation Care, 414 Lincoln Way.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, at First United Methodist Church, Kellogg Avenue and Sixth Street, Ames, with burial in Ames Municipal Cemetery.
Virginia was born Dec. 7, 1927, the daughter of Lars and Astrid (Lindqvist) Buck. She graduated from West High School, Waterloo, and Iowa Teachers College, Cedar Falls, before getting a master’s degree in education from Iowa State University in 1969. She married Eldon Schoeneman on Dec. 18, 1948, in Waterloo, and he preceded her in death in 2002.
She worked at Maxwell Public Schools as a guidance counselor, also teaching English and humanities. She was active at First United Methodist Church, Ames, and was past president of United Methodist Women for the Iowa Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Donna (Brad) Johnson, of Story City, John (Connie) Schoeneman, of Greenbrier, Ark., and Jeff Schoeneman, of Ames, 6 grandchildren, Lynnea Johnson, Ben Johnson, Katie Frohwein, Eric Antrim, Daniel Schoeneman and Victoria Schoeneman, and one sister, Myrtle Gronoski, Waterloo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; and two sisters.
