Irene Deloris Eldredge of Roland, died unexpectedly at the age of 80, Thursday Oct. 8, 2009, with her family by her side at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. A visitation was also held at Bergen Lutheran Church Friday, Oct. 9 from 5 -7:00 p.m.

Irene was born at home to Ernest and Emma Kell in Eagle Grove, Iowa on Dec. 15, 1928.

She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1946. She was married to Kenneth (Pat) Eldredge for 52 years. To this union were born Douglas, Christie, Debra, and Nancy. They moved to Roland in 1956 were Irene worked for Don Boyd Accounting Services for several years. She later worked for Dr. Readhead Dentistry in Ames until her retirement.

Irene enjoyed playing card games, and she loved to play Yahtzee. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and tatting. Family, friends, music, and travel were great passions for Irene. Irene was know for her love of pansies and cardinals. She was a longtime active member of Bergen Lutheran Church and the Red Hat Club.

Irene is survived by her sister Marge Tysdal of Berthed, Colorado; her loving family: Christie Molde and her husband Roger of Hartland, Wisconsin; Debra Nordaas and her husband Arlyn of Granger, Iowa; Nancy Spoden and her husband Ron of Brookland Park, Minnesota; four grandchildren and her beloved cat, Cammie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband "Pat" and her son Douglas Elderdge.

Irene will be interned at the Cemetery in Roland.
