Mrs. Elias Johnson, who recently died at her home near Doland [sic], Iowa, at the high age of 81, was bured from Salem Lutheran church there with a large attendance. She was born in Norway but had lived in the northern part of Story Co. since this district was first occupied. She was survived by two daughters and five sons. Daughters are Mrs. M. O. Ferkin and Mrs. P. O. Ferkin, both of Roland. Sons are Arnie, on the old farm; Eli Johnson, farmer northeast of Roland; John Johnson, now spending the winter in Texas; L. G. Johnson near Fort Morgan, Colorado; and one living near Bemidji, Minn.
