The Nevada Representative, Nevada, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, July 24, 1878. Courtesy of Arlen Twedt.

Died at her residence in North Sherman, July 12th, Mrs. Kester Welty, of congestion of the bowels, aged 51 years, 10 months and 7 days.

In June 1875, Mr. David Welty, son of the deceased came to our neighborhood and purchased a farm and commenced to improve it. In November of the same year he was called to Polo Ill., by the sickness of his mother. In a few weeks we learned that the angel of death had called him away, leaving the deceased and her two girls alone. In March 1878, the deceased came here to occupy the farm, and with the exception of the poor health of the mother seemed to be prospering well. On the night of the 12th, the daughter Florence with the remains of her mother, left for Polo, Ill., to bury her by her son in Pine Creek cemetery.

She has the sympathy of the entire neighborhood in her bereavement.

The daughter returns her thanks to the kind neighbors who assisted her during her mother's sickness, and in preparing her for burial.
