THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, September 23, 2009.

Arthur Bjorkgren, 88, of Boone, died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. His body has been cremated, and a memorial service will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, in the chapel of the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone. Burial will be at a later date in the Vail City Cemetery in Vail.

Friends may call from 2:30 p.m. until service time Friday at the chapel of the Eastern Star Masonic Home.

Arthur was born June 15, 1921, in Vail. He married Maryanna Chapman in Vail. Arthur served with the United States Army during World War II. He was a self-employed carpenter, retiring at age 62.

He is survived by his wife, Maryanna, of Boone; a son, Craig Bjorkgren, of Ames; a daughter, Lynn Bjorkgren, of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Paul Bjorkgren, of Manning; and a sister, Marie Martin, of Fremont, Calif.

Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bob; and a daughter-in-law, Susan J. Bjorkgren.

Memorials may be given to the Eastern Star Masonic Home.
