RoDean K. Larson, 74, of Ames died at her home on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009. Arrangements are pending with Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

RoDean Kay Larson, 74, of Ames, died unexpectedly at home, Friday, Sept. 18, 2009. Family and friends will gather at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 3316 Woodland St., in Ames, to celebrate RoDean’s life. Her cremains will be buried at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Cedar Cemetery in rural Sac City.
RoDean was born Oct. 22, 1934, to parents Iva and Ted Denise, of Lytton. She graduated from Lytton High School and AIB in Omaha, Neb. After completing her secretarial training, she moved to Ames, working for the ISU Animal Science Department and later as secretary for the First United Methodist Church. RoDean worked from 1976 to 2005 at the Town and Country Market in Slater, which she co-owned with her husband, Larry.
RoDean enjoyed participating in local politics, as an active member of the Democratic Party. She enjoyed classical music, especially opera. In retirement she became an avid ISU sports fan and developed a love and appreciation for flower gardening.
RoDean is survived by her husband of 49 years, Larry; her son, Eric, and grandson, Eddie, of San Francisco, Calif.; her daughter, Klaudia (Brad Shepard), of Ames; sisters, Jo Ann Albright (James), of Lytton, Gloria Riley, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Karen Hanneman (Larry), of Ames; brother-in-law, Ken Larson; and a number nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be given to Good Neighbor Emergency Assistance or charity of choice.
Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
