Charles (Chuck) Eucher, 84, of Muscatine, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home in Manitowoc, Wis. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Pat Knutson with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Manitowoc. Graveside military rites will be accorded by V.F.W. Otto Oas Post No. 659.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Eucher was born Oct. 1, 1924, in Brodhead, Wis., the son of Emil and Eva (Brees) Eucher. Charles was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, Class of 1942. He was a sergeant in the 70th Infantry Division of the United States Army during World War II. He served 15 months in the European Theater and earned both the Combat Infantry Award and the Bronze Star. On Aug. 2, 1947, he married the former Lorene E. Zapfe in Manitowoc. Charles was the quality assurance manager for HON company, retiring in 1989.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Eucher, of Muscatine; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Joan Eucher, of Grand Junction, Ohio, Ralph and Jean Eucher, of West Des Moines, and Eric and Laura Eucher, of Ames; a daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Bruce Rhoades, of Corvallis, Ore.; five grandchildren, Kelly Eucher, of Phoenix, Ariz., Dr. James Eucher, of Columbus, Ohio, Joseph Eucher, of Ames, and Sara and Kate Rhoades, of Corvallis, Ore.; one brother, Ronald Eucher, one sister-in-law, Lucyle Eucher, and a special niece, Ruth Haese, all of Manitowoc, Wis.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lloyd Eucher; and a sister, Shirley Blum.
