Collins Clipper 4-08-1915

Isiah Kimberley was born April 14, 1823 at Coventry, England, and departed this life April 8, 1915.

He was the fifth son of John and Mary Kimberley.

In 1840 he came to the United States and settled in New York state where on May 3, 1851, he married Mary Ann Cleverley, who survives him. To this union there were 15 children born; the following are living: John B., William J., Frank J., Charles H., George A., Mrs. Harriet Swalwell, Mrs. Ada R. Angelo and Mrs. Ruth A. Pearson, also 32 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In 1854 he came to Iowa, settling in Allamakee Co., living there until 1865, then coming to Jasper County and settling on what is known as the old Kimberley homestead where he lived an active life until the fall of 1897. At that time he retired and build a cottage by the side of his son John's where he spent the remainder of his life.

The funeral service was held at the home of his son John B. Kimberley, Saturday April 10th. The officiating minister was Rev. Albert V. Hart, whose sermon was a message of comfort for the bereaved, and gave honor to the deceased who had earned the words of welcome, "Well done, good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joys of thy Lord."

A large number were present, all relatives, neighbors and friends of the deceased, who was one of the early settlers of Clear Creek. The floral tributes were very choice and beautiful. the music was furnished by the choir of Harsh Sunday School.

The interment was at the Peoria Cemetery. The pall bearers were his five sons and Mr. John B. Angelo of Maxwell, a son-in-law.

The death of Mr. Kimberley removes one of the oldest citizens of the Collins neighborhood. By example and precept he made for success. His principal characteristic was industry, yet no one made firmer friends. He was the father of an influential family, who with his venerable life partner, have the sympathy of this community in their bereavement.
