THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, July 10, 2009.

Gail Marie Josephson, 70, of Puyallup, Wash., previously of Fort Collins, Colo., passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009. A memorial service was June 27, in Fort Collins, and another service will be at a later date in Washington.

Gail was born Aug. 4, 1938, to William A. Walker and Ruth (Cederholm) Walker, of Nevada, Iowa. At the age of 7, Gail’s family moved to Ames, Iowa. She graduated from Ames High School in 1956. Following graduation, Gail attended Iowa Lutheran Hospital Nursing School where she graduated as a registered nurse in 1959. Upon graduation Gail worked in the OB ward of Mary Greeley Medical Center. Gail married Paul R. Josephson Jr. Aug. 16, 1959, in Ames. Gail and Paul moved to Rochester, N.Y., in 1961, and then in 1971 they moved to Fort Collins, Colo., where they resided until 2008 when they moved to Puyallup, Wash. Gail was a registered nurse in Fort Collins at Dr. Ellis’ office for many years.

Gail loved to travel and visited places including the Holy Land, Egypt, Sweden, Russia, Hawaii and Washington, D.C., with her siblings and their spouses and traveling the continental U.S. Gail enjoyed sewing, needlework, Women’s Bible Study, Sunday School Class, AAUW events, gardening, camping and watching sports. Gail especially loved doing for others and the less fortunate.

Gail is survived by her husband, Paul; son, Kevin Josephson, of New York; daughters, Kimberly (Josephson) Starr (husband Ken), of Colorado, and Kari Josephson, of Washington; brothers, Fred Walker (wife Darlene) and John Walker (wife Zoya); sister, Nancy (Walker) Williams (husband Stein); and grandchildren, Chelsea and Julie Starr. Survivors also include nine nieces, seven nephews, 20 grandnieces, 16 grandnephews, one great-grandniece and one great-grandnephew.

Memorials can be made in her honor to Mary Greeley Medical Center Foundation, Birthways birthing unit, 1111 Duff Ave., Ames, IA, 50010.
