RALPH WARREN OGIER
Ralph Warren Ogier, 63, of Nevada IA died Monday, July 11, 1988, at Story County Hospital in Nevada. Death was due to heart disease.
He was born Oct. 14, 1924, at Kellerton IA to Earl Ogier and Jessie Edna Bohall.
He was married to Louise Laird on Jan. 25, 1947. She died Feb. 23, 1980. He was married to Rose Menke on Nov. 28, 1981, at St. Paul IA.
Mr. Ogier was self employed as a rug weaver. He moved to Nevada from Boone IA in 1965.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church and belonged to the Handicap Organization, Easter Seals of Iowa. He learned to weave at Camp Sunnyside and then taught weaving there.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the US Navy.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 15, at 1:30 p.m. at Cooper-Ryan Funeral Home, 5th St. and Lincoln Hwy., Nevada, with Rev. William Ballard of the Nevada United Methodist Church officaiting. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens at Nevada.
Survivors include his wife, Rose, of Nevada; a son, Ralph James Ogier of Longmont CO; a daughter, Connie Sue Smith of Kansas City MO; five brothers, Clyde Melvin Ogier of Lamoni IA, William Ogier of Ohio, Ernest Ogier of Washington, Elbert Ogier of Arizona and Glenn Ogier of Council Bluffs IA; three sisters, Hazel Marie Stanley of Mt. Ayr IA, Ethellene May Scott of Indianola IA and Jessie Fern Higday of Des Moines IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Louise.
Visitation was held Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established for the Easter Seal Society and Camp Sunnyside.
