Edward J. Couser died Tuesday at Mary Greely

NEVADA - Edward J. Couser, 434 6th St., died Tuesday evening at Mary Greeley Hospital in Ames where he had been a patient for the past four weeks. He died of complications following surgery. Couser was 78.

Services will be held from the Central Presbyterian Church on Friday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Gehrald A. Riesen will officiate with burial in the Nevada Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ryan Funeral Home until noon Friday.

Born March 14, 1898 in Zearing to Thomas and Mehitable Couser, he had been a Story County resident his entire life. In 1956 he married Daisy Guthrie. He was a retired farmer and carpenter.

Couser was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and Odd Fellow Lodge.

Survivors include his wife, Daisy; one son, Richard of Nevada; three grandchildren and one brother, Arthur of Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and his first wife, Anna, who died in 1951.
