Geneva Ida Schulz Link was born May 3, 1916, near Great Bend, Kansas, to Edwin and Ida Burgtorf Schulz. She was the eighth of ten children. At the age of four. she moved with her family to northern Arkansas and attended school through the eighth grade at Iuka. She became a Christian at the age of 17 at a brush arbor evangelistic meeting and was baptized in the North Fork River.
In 1936 Geneva moved to Iowa with her parents. She worked in homes in the Maxwell and Loring areas, helping the wives with housekeeping and gardening.

On April 18, 1940 she was united in marriage to Richard Link in the Farrar church. They established their home and farm 1¼ mile north of Farrar. She was a member of the Farrar United Methodist Church and taught the Youth Sunday School Class for 25 years. Geneva was known for her tasty cooking, and she enjoyed having guests come for meals. It is doubtful that anyone has ever loved gardening more than Geneva did. She was also known for her large, beautiful and weedless flower and vegetable gardens. She always shared her produce with family and neighbors, as she was a very giving person.

Geneva is survived by a son, Fred (Carolyn) Link of Maxwell; a daughter, Sharon (Don) Struthers of Collins; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; a sister: Mrs. Lydia Meyer of Sac City, Iowa. Also surviving are two sisters-in-law: Mrs. Cleffie Schulz of Mountain View, Missouri and Mrs. Mary Link Winslow of Altoona, Iowa and many nieces and nephews.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and four sisters; her husband, Richard on August 16, 1983; a great-grandson, Erick Richard Struthers on February 21, 1997.

Due to failing health, Geneva moved to Rolling Green Village in Nevada on September 1, 2005. She died there peacefully on May 12, 2009, at the age of 93.

Funeral services were on Saturday at the Farrar United Methodist Church. Interment was in the Farrar Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Farrar United Methodist Church and/or Gideons International.

The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.
