Alice Marsh, 101, died May 4, 2009, in Oskaloosa IA. She was born in State Center IA to William C. and Orrie Belle Heintz. She was graduated from Collins High School in 1926 and married Curtis L. Marsh in 1927. Alice and Curt raised eight children. Alice’s interests included athletics and music. For many years she was an official scorekeeper for high school sports and for semi-pro baseball. She was known as an expert on the rules. Alice was a member of the Methodist Church serving as choir director and soloist. She was a longtime member of the American Legion Auxiliary; Alice was preceded in death by her husband, sons Curtis, Jr., Fredrick, Lewis, son-in-law Ray Weir, and grandson Curtis A. Marsh. She is survived by son James (Beverly) of Jewell IA and daughters Jean Weir of Colo IA, Kathryn (Carmen) Maxwell of What Cheer IA, Judith (Bob) Dunshee of Indianapolis IN, and Marilyn (Steve) Barger of Newtown PA as well as 24 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service is being held May 9 at 2:00 P. M. at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins IA.
