Kent Michael Phillips, 46, of Vienna, Virginia and formerly of Story City, died March 29, 2009 as a result of an automobile accident in Virginia. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Burial followed in Center Cemetery near Story City. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.

Kent was born March 29, 1963 in Story City to Michael and Kay (Munson) Phillips. He served for 20 years in the US Air Force and was an engineer of Mitre Corp. He graudated from ISU in 1987 and enjoyed computers and reading.

Kent is survived by his wife, Musik of Vienna, Virginia; two step-daughters, Kristine Gade and Kathy Gelpe both in Virginia; his mother, Kay Disbrowe of Story City; his father, Michael Phillips of Washington, D.C.; grandfather, Irving Wierson of Story City; uncles, Paul (Karen) Munson, Jim (Connie) Phillips, Steve (Wilda) Phillips; aunt Marilyn (Joe) Emond of Farmington, Minnesota, and two step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his step-father, David Disbrowe and his step-mother, Cheryl Phillips.

Soderstrum Funeral Home was entrusted with arrangements.
