Leonard E. Thompson was born March 10, 1911 to Thomas J. and Mary (Nelson) Thompson in Story City, Iowa. Leonard graduated Gilbert High School in 1930. He was a member of St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. Leonard was a farmer in the Story City area and loved to fish and liked motorcycles.

Leonard passed away Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008 at Bethany Manor Story City at 97 years of age.

He is survived by many nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Mildred, Thompson of Story City.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Alice May Beatrice Haugland, Mildred Hermanson, and an infant sister, Alice Beatrice Thompson; and three brothers, Clarence Thompson, Alvin Thompson, and Theodore Thompson.

Funeral services were held Saturday; Dec, 20 at Bethany Manor Chapel in Story City. Burial was in the Story City Municipal Cemetery. Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City assisted the family with arrangements.
