Dorothy Verlee Chelsvig

Dorothy Verlee Chelsvig, 71, of McCallsburg died of a heart ailment Thursday at home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bethany Lutheran Church in McCallsburg, where she was a member, with burial at Warren Township Cemetery, also in McCallsburg.

Mrs. Chelsvig was born in Prairie City. She taught school south of Iowa Falls and in Alleman. In 1945 she moved to McCallsburg, where she taught for one year. She also worked at Donnelley's in Nevada from 1955 to 1987, before retiring.

She is survived by her husband, Joel; a daughter, Marilyn Laherty of Garden Grove, Calif.; her mother, Letha Fouts of Whitten; and a brother, Gordon Fouts of Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

Visitation will be after 9 a.m. Sunday at Fredregill Funeral Home in Zearing, where the family will be present Sunday from 5-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
