James Carroll Thompson

James Carroll Thompson, 51, of Ames died of scleroderma Friday at Mary Greeley Medical Center. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Story City, with burial at Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Mr. Thompson was born in Hamilton County and had lived in Ames since 1964. He was an accounting technician with the Ames City Finance Department.

Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; two daughters, Jolene Pitkin of Clear Lake and Julie Thompson of Minneapolis; a son, Brian of Ames; his parents, Amos and Selma Thompson of Story City; four sisters, Avonelle Hefflefinger of Ames, Barbara Olson and Shirley Anderson, both of Story City, and Dorothy Shephard of Geneva, NY; two brothers, Lloyd and Marvin, both of Story City; and a grandchild.

Friends may call after noon today at Adams Funeral Home in Ames, where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m.
