H. Woodruff, Pioneer Story Farmer, Dies

One of the few remaining Story county pioneer farmers, Henry Fuller Woodruff, 1216 Wilson avenus, who would have been 87 Sunday, died at the Mary Greeley hospital shortly after 6 a. m. Saturday. He had been an invalid for several years and was taken to the hospital in June, 1935. Death was due to pneumonia.

Born in Seneca county, New York, March 8, 1849, Mr. Woodruff came to Story county in 1868 and purchased a farm on the Boone-Story county line west of Ames, but did not move here until 1872. Mr. Woodruff was prominent in many of the farm movements of the early days, continuing his many farm activities until his retirement in 1908.

He traveled extensively during his life, visiting every state and making one trip around the world.

Surviving him are one son, Benjamin of Ladner, British Columbia, Canada, and one daughter, Mrs. Theresa W. Powers, Ames.

Funeral services were not completed Saturday noon, pending word from the son and other relatives.
