Clarence R. Ness, 71, of Huxley died of respiratory and heart ailments Friday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cambridge Cemetery.

Mr. Ness, a lifelong Huxley area resident, had worked for the Huxley Lumber Yard and Iowa State University. He was a veteran of the Korean war.

Survivors include his wife, Doris; a son, Alan of Marion; a daughter, Nancy Braland of Ames; a brother, Lawrence of Huxley; a sister, Leona Matthews of Postville; six grandchildren, and a great-grandcild.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater, where the family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m.
