Ruby Freeman, 94, of Brentwood, California passed away February 14, 2009 in Santa Monica, California.

Ruby Eleanor Christian was born March 18, 1914 on the family farm four miles north of Nevada in Richland Township, the daughter of John Martin and Helen Aseline (Jondall) Christian.

After graduation from the Milford Township high school in 1930, Ruby worked for a time in Nevada, after which she worked in Chicago and Los Angeles before graduating as a registered nurse from Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago. She married Adio Alfons Freeman in 1937 at Edgewater, Illinois. Ruby and Adio eventually settled in Brentwood, California where they lived for many years.

Ruby is survived by two daughters, Pamela Holtzman and Valerie Verderame of Brentwood, California; one son, Barry; and six grandchildren, Maia, Jonathan, and Mathew Holtzman of New York, Veronica and Victoria Verderame of California, and Taylor Freeman of Hawaii.

She was preceded in death by her husband Adio; by her sisters June Lock, Cleo Cecil, Olive Borwick, Arlet Smith, and Frances Holen; and by her brothers Hansel, Marion, and Frank.
