RANDALL FARMER IS VICTIM OF COLD

DIES OF HEART FAILURE AFTER TRIP FOR COAL

Numerous Roads Are Blocked By Drifts

One person in central Iowa, was dead Tuesday as another wintry blast from the north hit Monday night, Bending the mercury down to 14 degrees below zero and drifting numerous Story county roads with snow.

Tom Knutson, 61, who lives two and one-half miles northwest of Randall, died of heart failure at the gateway of his home at 3 p. m. Monday, after making a trip to town to get coal for his family. Randall is located four miles north of Story City.

Fight Drifts

Knutson started to Randall with Jans Anderson, 18, a relative, to get some coal to replenish the
nearly depleted supply at the farm home. The two fought thru snowdrifted roads to town and back when Knutson fell dead from heart failure, brot on by the extreme cold and exertion.

Following his death, it was necessary for members of the family io battle the snow filled road back to Randall in order to deliver the body to an undertaker there who was unable to drive to the home.

Born Near Story City

Mr. Knutson was born on a farm south of Siory City and had lived in that vicinity all his life, with the exception of five years in Minnesota.

No funeral arrangements had been made by Tuesday noon.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Clarice and Beatrice and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mary Doolittle, Halvor, Andrew, Knut, Ole, Nels and Julius, all of Story City, and Mrs. Hattie Thompson, Sait James, Minn.
