THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, February 17, 2009.

Anita Marie Uthe, 61, of Nevada, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009, at home. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nevada.

Anita, daughter of Sylvester and Lila (Mortvedt) Uthe, was born Nov. 6, 1947, in Ames. A 1965 graduate of Ames High School, she earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising and design from Iowa State University in 1969. She worked for many years in advertising for Younkers in Des Moines. She was a longtime member of Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Ankeny and was affiliated with St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Nevada. She was a member of the Ankeny Area Quilt Guild.

She is survived by her mother, Lila, of Nevada; three sisters, Linda Uthe, of Nevada, Marlene (Lyle) Borkowski, of Manning, and Karen (Alan) Knaphus, of McCallsburg; one brother, Douglas (Sue) Uthe, of Nevada; three nieces, Renee Uthe, Kari Borkowski and Amy Borkowski; and one nephew, Ross Uthe.

She was preceded in death by her father, Sylvester Uthe.
