THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Thursday, February 12, 2009.

Leon “Lee” P. Harris, of Santa Barbara, Calif., best friend and husband of Donna, beloved father of Max (Bev), Stacey (Marty) Krause and Sara, died peacefully Friday, Jan. 30, at home, with his wife and children by his side. Private family services will be held.

Lee graduated from Ames High School in 1958. He served in the U.S. Navy and later married Donna Snowgren, of Boone. They were married 47 years in October 2008. He was most happy sitting on the balcony of their home looking at the mountains. Throughout his illness, he never lost his great sense of humor.

In addition to his wife and children, he is also survived by four grandchildren, Amber and Rebecca Harris, of Alden, N.Y., and Ramona and Robin Krause, of Santa Barbara, Calif; and one sister, Linda Samson, of Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Nina Harris, of Ames.
