THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Friday, January 30, 2009.

Elnora Nernes, 84, of Slater, died Thursday, Jan. 29, 2009, at Madrid Home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Slater, with the Rev. Heidi Williams officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

Elnora Nernes was born Feb. 22, 1924, in Slater, to Morton and Susana (Scott) Nernes. She was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She was a cook, seamstress and homemaker, living her entire life on the family farm.

She is survived by her cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Frances Gaard.

Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater is assisting with arrangements.
