THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Sunday, December 21, 2008.

Flossie Mae Taylor Cummings, 90, passed away Thursday morning, Dec. 18, 2008, at Israel Family Hospice House, Ames, Iowa.

The family will be present for a visitation from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, at Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls, Iowa, with an Eastern Star Service at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, at First Christian Church, Iowa Falls. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial.

Flossie was born July 8, 1918, in Afton, Union County, Iowa, to Vernie and Maggie (Andrews) Taylor. She grew up on a farm and attended a country school through the eighth grade. She married Hampton Robert (Bob) Cummings on Dec. 24, 1935, at Greenfield, Iowa.

She is survived by two sons, Richard (Janice), of Cedar Rapids, and Max (Jan), of Ames; one daughter, Debi (Charlie) Makidon, of St. Paul, Minn.; one sister, Bessie Sinn, of Story City; three grandchildren, Ian (Isabelle) Cummings, Ryan (Andrea) Cummings, and Jennifer Cummings; two great-grandchildren, Christophe and Alyson Cummings; four stepchildren; and more than 50 nieces and nephews.

Flossie was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Cummings, in 1993; two sisters, Dorothy Clark, in 1926, and Irma Ford, in 1997; and two brothers, Leon Taylor, in 1973, and Wesley Taylor, in 2001.
