Florence Osam, 92, of Ames, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2008. Arrangements are pending with Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Funeral services for Florence Osam will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at Adams Funeral Home in Ames.

Florence S. Osam, 92, of Ames, died Dec. 15, 2008, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Adams Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ontario Cemetery in Ames.

Florence S. Osam was born April 16, 1916, in Worth County, Iowa, the daughter of Wm. And Lulu (White) Gilchrist. She married Clifford Osam in Ames on June 30, 1940. She graduated Ames High School in 1934. She was clerk for 15 years in the Survey Section of Snedecor Hall, and worked five years at the Highway Commission before retiring in 1981. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church, an honorary Story County 4-H leader and on the county committee. She loved to work in her garden.

She is survived by a daughter, Leslie Pensack, of Ames; a son, Martin (Emily) Osam, of Ames; and two grandsons, Wes Osam, of Iowa City, and Mark Osam (Jackie), of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 4, 1983; three brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, at the Adams Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Israel Family Hospice House.

Adams Funeral Home and Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
