Welby Marshall, 92, of Maxwell, died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at his residence. Welby's wishes were to be cremated, and no services are planned.

He was born Oct. 25, 1916, in Deluce, Ark., to Charles David and Maude Ollie Marshall. He entered the service in 1941 and served in many states and places overseas, including Japan and Germany on the Berlin Airlift, before retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1961. He moved to a farm with his family in 1961. He married Darlene Hill on April 10, 1946, in Chicago.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Darlene Marshall; two sons, Carl David Marshall and Wesley Vernon Marshall; two grandchildren, Dennis and Lori; one great-granddaughter, Victoria; and one brother, David Marshall.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
