Mildred Tweedt, 96, of Slater, died Thursday, Nov. 13, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 17, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Burial was in the Bethlehem Cemetery.
Mildred was born in Kelley on Feb. 13, 1912, to Jacob and Anna (Sydnes) Floden. She was a 1930 graduate of Kelley High School. She married Carroll Tweedt on Dec. 3, 1930, and was a homemaker. She was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the Music and Study Club, Birthday Club and Embroidery Club. She was a very giving person, kind and gracious, and remembered other people in a positive way.
Survivors include her daughter, Colleen (Jack) Lyster of Cedar Rapids, a daughter-in-law, Joyce Tweedt of Slater; a son-in-law, Ron Peirce of Slater; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carroll on Dec. 25, 2002; a son, Arlen Tweedt; a daughter, Marilyn Peirce; eight brothers and two sisters.
Soderstrum-Riis Funeral Home in Slater handled arrangements.
