Noreen Rae McFall Bates, born Jan. 4, 1949, passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2008, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg, S.C. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

She was the daughter of the late Clifford Winfield and Edith Marie (Hogg) McFall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Larry Bates Sr., and their son, Jeremy Matthew Bates.

Noreen is survived by a son, Chester Larry Bates Jr. and wife, Sarah, of Huxley; a daughter, Melinda Kay Kahn and husband, Matthew, of Moore, S.C.; a brother, James McFall, and a sister, Linda Nixon, both of Des Moines; and six grandchildren, Jonathan Daniel, Kathryn Marie and LeighAnn Rae Kahn, and Laura Jeanne, Audrey Josephine and Jeremy Matthew Bates.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, at Hamilton East Funeral Home in Des Moines. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, at Hamilton East Funeral Home in Des Moines.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, S.C., 29615.
